Loot Crates are specific, accessible containers in the a variety of different items. Crates are often the main source of rarer items and components. They are most likely to spawn in the vicinity of certain Monuments and alongside Roads.
Basic Crate
Basic Crate
The basic crate can be found around supermarkets, gas stations and alongside Barrels.
The Basic Crate can contain:

- Road Signs

Tool Box
The Tool Box is a small, red box that can contain hatchets, pickaxes, starter weapons, and some armour. You're likely to find the red loot boxes in junk piles by roads.

- Arrows
- Binoculars

Small Crate
Military Crate
Small Crate (also known as Military Crate or Gun Crate) contains higher quality items.
The Small Crate can contain:
- High Quality Metal
- Metal Pipe
- Rifle Body
- SMG Body
- Targeting Computer
- Tech Trash
- Supply Signal
- Metal Barricade
- Semi Rifle
- Muzzle Brake
- Thompson
- Pump Shotgun
- Custom SMG

Food Crate
The Food Crate contains up to three items.
The Food Crate can contain:
- Apple
- Can of Beans
- Can of Tuna
- Chocolate Bar
- Granola Bar
- Small Water Bottle
- Water Jug
- Anti-Radiation Pills
Elite Loot Crate
Elite Crate
As of Devblog 167 there is a new elite crate. It spawns in the Rocket Launch Site and inside the Military Tunnels. It contains the most valuable items out of all four of the crates. This crate will also spawn a large quantity of items compared to the Small Crate.
The Elite Loot Crate can contain:

- High Quality Metal
- Metal Pipe
- Rifle Body
- SMG Body
- Targeting Computer
- Tech Trash
- Supply Signal
- Hazmat Suit
- Rocket Launcher
