The Survey Charge was introduced in Devblog 64 for Rust as part of a major mining update, featuring the Mining Quarry and the Pump Jack. It is used to determine which resources are available in the ground, and is usually used before placing a Mining Quarry. It is used much like a Beancan Grenade, and is thrown onto bare ground. Then, the Survey Charge will explode, and may throw resources within the target area, evaluate which resources are received from the explosion to determine what your Mining Quarry will produce.

- It takes 15 seconds to craft one Survey Charge.
- The Survey Charge seems to have a highly similar appearance to the Beancan Grenade, especially the icon.
- An exploding Survey Charge can rarely deal damage to nearby entities. Please note that it is capable of killing players.
- Looking closely, it can be seen that the inside of a Survey Charge contains a Beancan Grenade.
